Amsterdam, 2017

Nina & Milo first met in the late hours at a bar, discovering they were the perfect fit. When these sweethearts are not on the lookout for a new adventure they can be found in the Japanese Blossom Park in Amsterdam, dreaming about their romance and the next Japanese meal they will cook…

What do you do?
Both: We both work, as we feel like we are not made for studying. Nina is working at the Juice Brothers and Chicago Social Club. Milo works at restaurant Bo Nam. When not working we love to canoe in the Amsterdamse Bos, going to escape rooms or hopping between local Asian markets looking for new Japanese meals to create.

How and where did you meet?
Nina: We already knew each other by face and name, but our actual first meeting was at the bar where Milo worked back in the days. I sneaked behind the bar after closing hours and found it an amazing idea to pour everyone a free drink. Milo, however, was not so amused… After he kicked me away from the bar we officially met and had a really nice evening. Since then we are practically inseparable.

At what moment did you know you were in love?
Milo: When we were dating, I had to go to Cape Town for work. During that time apart, we realized how much we actually liked and missed each other. The morning I returned, Nina and my roommates organized a welcome home breakfast. That definitely was the moment we both knew we had fallen in love.

Do you have a special place, or a place you call a “second home” where the two of you like to hang out and retreat to?
Both: The Japanese Blossom Park in Amsterdam. The first time we went, we literally spent hours just laying there in the grass, looking at the trees. It sounds so cheesy, but you truly forget you are in Amsterdam when you are out there.

How would you describe each other in four words?
Nina: Caring, sweet, hot and smart.
Milo: The. Most. Beautiful. Woman.

‘’I would cook her dinner and eat out on the roof terrace while the sun is coming down and wrap it up with a good old evening stroll.’’

What is your craziest, most hilarious memory as a couple?
Both: Last Halloween we both dressed up - she as a sexy police-officer and he as a prisoner. We drunk so much, so the exact details are all a blur, but we did however live up to the expectations of our outfits. The night ended in an old prison… Side note: there were no other prisoners and a friend of ours lived there.

What is your definition of love?
Both: You want to spend every hour of the day with each other without getting bored.

Describe your ideal weekend together.
Both: We would start with some drinks and a bite, and let the alcohol flow generously - maybe some shots. After that we would show the world our best dance moves. The next day we would spend in bed. With lots of food.

If you could go back in time and take your partner on a first date again, what would you do differently?
Milo: As Nina loves spending time in the nature, I would start with taking her to the Japanese Blossom Park and just walk around talking about our dreams and all the little things on our mind. After that I would take her canoeing - to show her how strong and tough I am… (kidding). Later I would cook her dinner and eat out on the roof terrace while the sun is coming down and wrap it up with a good old evening stroll.
